I had a lot of trouble choosing a convertible carseat when my son outgrew his infant carrier. We didn’t have a large budget and everything in my budget was rated low or “suitable for back-up”. After reading everything online I could find, and actually looking at the carseats in person at the store, I went with this model.
It installs easilly, is not difficult to adjust the strap height if you read the directions, works well both with the latch system and without, is small enough to fit in my smaller car, and seems to be comfortable for my son. Oh, and no trouble with straps twisting. And baby loves the handy little mesh pockets for his toys!
The only down-side is that if he falls asleep, his head slumps sideways, but I don’t think that’s unique to this model…just a downside of sitting upright.
So coming from someone that can’t afford $200 carseats for our vehicles, this one does very well as our full-time carseat, and I may very well buy a second one for my husband’s vehicle when finances allow.
My advice is to read the directions. And if you have any trouble getting it fitted, take advantage of your local police/fire-department services. I accidently put the seatbelt through the wrong slot and had trouble with the seat tipping over (!!!), but the day that happened, I made one phone call to the police department’s expert and she knew exactly what I’d done and how to correct it. No problems since (and wouldn’t have been if I’d read the directions properly in the first place).

This was the most comfy, visually attractive, and easiest to use carseat we tried, and we tried many. My daughter is long and thin, and this fits her well without being too bulky like most of the other seats. The straps are easy to use as soon as you get the hang of it, and she is very happy in it (except for boredom in the car).
Love it!

After looking the actual carseat in the store, I decided to go for this one. If you read the installation instructions carefully for just once then life is so easy for installation. The product sits very securely in rear facing or front facing conditions. It has nice enough recline in front facing position so that our daughter sits in very comfortably. The head pillow is a bit large but not at at uncomfortable. The fabric is very great and easily washable. The net side pockets are great and shoulder belt pads are wonderful. I would strongly recommend this car seat for those who are looking for something around $100. Sears has it on sale for $109.

This is the only seat my son has ever used. From birth to the ripe old age of 16 months. He loves sitting in it and has no problem falling asleep on long drives. The recent recall involving this model was for seats from 2005 so it didn’t effect us. The straps never twist and the seat is keeps it shape very well after being thrown in the washing machine. It is also one of the few seats we were even able to fit in our car rearfacing without moving the front seat completly forward. We’re expecting another baby in January and will be getting this seat again.

I bought this car seat for our main car seat after buying a Britax car seat (which was twice as much). I figured that they both looked nice and comfy so what could be the difference? The Difference is in the installation and adjustment. This seat to me is EXTREMELY difficult to put into your car correctly. The strap that connects to the LATCH system is situated so that when you can’t get a good angle to really wrench it down tight…which is what you need to do with this seat to get into place. In addition when this seat is in the Rear Facing position, it will easily pitch forward when you strap your little one in and pull up on the tightening strap. One of our cars has a tether strap hook on the floor so that solved that problem, but if your car doesn’t have that, it is something to be careful of. The leg straps also seem to get twisted pretty easily.
On the Up side, it is cheap. But is that a good thing if you can’t adjust it to the point of feeling safe? And it goes up to 80lbs. It seems like once I am able to put it in the front facing position, it will be a lot more stable. (due to the tether strap)
So I would really not recommend this seat to someone who might be moving it between cars at all, or has a car without a floor tether hook and putting it rear facing. Check out a Britax. A little more money but worth it.
