Sell Your Transformers Collection

G1 forward. Boxed, loose or graded, complete or missing pieces, one figure or the whole shelf.

What we look for in a Transformers collection

Generation 1, 1984 to 1990, is where most of the value sits, and Transformers are judged differently from other action figure lines because every one of them came with parts.

  • Completeness. Weapons, fists, missiles, tech spec cards, instruction sheets, rubsigns. A complete loose G1 figure is worth many times an incomplete one, and the missiles are almost always the first thing lost.
  • The box. A boxed G1 figure with its insert, styrofoam and paperwork is a different piece from the same figure loose.
  • Gold plastic syndrome. Certain G1 figures used a plastic blend that crumbles with age. We check for it and it is not a reason to skip a collection, just something we look at.
  • Rubsign condition. Whether the heat-sensitive sticker is intact and unrubbed.
  • Later lines. Beast Wars, Masterpiece, third-party figures and the modern collector releases all trade.

The parts that decide the number

More than any other line we buy, Transformers value is decided by the small plastic pieces in the bottom of the box.

  • Original missiles and launchers, which were frequently fired into a couch in 1986
  • Guns, swords and hand-held accessories, often molded in the same color as the figure
  • Tech spec cards and their red decoder
  • Instruction booklets and catalog inserts
  • Combiner limbs and connecting parts, where a single missing limb changes a set's value completely

Do not sort them out and do not throw away a bag of loose parts before someone has looked at it.

Common questions

What are old Transformers worth?

G1 figures from 1984 to 1990 carry the most value, and completeness decides the number more than anything else. The same figure can be worth a few dollars incomplete and a great deal boxed with its missiles, tech spec card and paperwork.

Do you buy incomplete or broken Transformers?

Yes. Most loose G1 arrives incomplete, and a collection is almost never all-complete. Send it as it is. Parts figures have a place too, so do not throw away anything with gold plastic cracking or a snapped joint before we look.

Do you buy Beast Wars, Masterpiece or modern Transformers?

Yes, alongside G1. Masterpiece and the modern collector lines trade actively, and they usually turn up mixed into an older collection.

What is gold plastic syndrome and does it make my figure worthless?

It is a plastic blend used on certain G1 figures that becomes brittle and crumbles with age. It reduces value but it does not make a figure worthless, and it is not a reason to skip sending photos.
